A sad, dejected 24-hour King's Diner sat on the corner of 10th and Mission, between Market and Mission.
Across 10th Street, and behind the diner, sat two parking lots.
On the corner of 10th and Market, a vacant lot sat across the street from the SF Mart, a trade-only wholesale furniture market.
10th Street, today:
Mercy Housing sits on the corner of 10th and Mission, with hundreds of below-market-rate family housing units upstairs in a 12-floor high-rise. Sumitra Salon,
Back to the Picture/SoMa, and Cumaica Coffee occupy the ground-floor retail spaces.
Crescent Heights is developing the lot on Market and Mission, with a development including a 19-floor tower and a 38-floor tower, which will eventually contain over 750 market rate units, and retail spaces on the ground floor.
The wholesale furniture SFMart has been occupied by Twitter, with hundreds of tech employees now working in the building.
This once-empty street will, upon completion of the residential skyscrapers, now be home to over 15 businesses and thousands of residents.
A lot changes in 10 years! We're happy to be part of the revival of this new corridor which will be called New Market.
